Thassos is a little green and mountainous island in the Aegean Sea. It is an greek island, which is very famous for the clean beaches. The island is in front of the Macedonian dry land and the mouth of the river Nestos. Thassos is also known for the hospitality of the inhabitants, the tasty wine and marvellous honey. The history of this island is very long, in the ancient time it was famous for the gold and marble. Today there are a lot of archaeological tresors to see. It is also important to visit the factory of marble. The white marble is famous all over the world. Thassos also has Potos a wonderful coastal village on the island's South side 45 kilometers from Thassos Town and 28 kilometres from the port in Skala Prinos . It has developed into a settlement with permanent residents in the last few decades but has not always been this way. Nice beach is Pefkari a little resort stretches along a lovely sandy bay and is completely surrounded by green pines located 44 kilometres from Thassos Town and 28 kilometres from the port in Skala Prinos. It is a village tucked away in the trees along the sparkling Aegean coast on the South side of the island. The historically-rich village of Theologos stands 220 meters above sea level, in the mountains of Thassos just 10 kilometres Northeast of Potos. It is 55 kilometres from Thassos Town and 38 kilometres from the port in Skala Prinos. Theologos was once Thassos' major market place and also the location of the island’s government during the Turkish Occupation from 1455 till 1813 and later the Egyptian rule between 1813 and 1902.
